Patterned skirts and body secrets.. If you are like me and love a bold print, just be mindful that pattern draws attention to the area where you are wearing it.
You can use print to your advantage by emphasising the areas of your body which you like and draw attention away from the areas which you are less confident about.
Print can also create balance. If your body shape is a triangle, try wearing print on your top half to counteract your wider bottom half. Likewise, if your body shape is an inverted triangle, try wearing print on your bottom half to balance out your broader top half.
Im an hourglass shape, so wearing this printed skirt could throw my proportions out slightly. But I love it, so I use a few tricks to make it work for me.
Firstly, I’ll let you in to a secret- I don’t like my feet.. and I much prefer people to be looking up at my face rather than at my body (thank you very much)! Here we go:
Don’t look at my feet...
I keep my shoes tonal to my legs or wear shoes in a colour which tie in seamlessly with the print. For example, If I were to wear bright green shoes with this skirt, eyes would be drawn to my feet.
Keep looking up please..
I don’t want all the attention on my bottom half so I wear this skirt with a top in a light colour instead of a dark colour. This is because because light colours draw attention, so will move the eye up to my top half.
Phew, nearly there!
I’ll add a focal point, such as a necklace, to my Portrait Area. Statement earrings, a scarf or lipstick etc work equally well in drawing the eye up to my face.
And we have eye contact!
